Who are the Farris Family?

We are James, Kati, and Mia.

James grew up in California, not traveling very much as a kid. He went as far as Arizona and New Mexico to visit family, but that was about the extent of his travels. He always enjoyed technology and became a web developer. He created this site using Python, Django, and Wagtail CMS.

Kati also grew up in California, her passion for travel started early. She was a world traveler before she was a teenager. Her family traveled often, visiting what America and the world had to offer. Growing up she was always caring for animals and became a veterinary technician anesthesia specialist so her 20+ years working in a veterinary hospital was right inline with her childhood passion.

Mia was just a toddler when we started this site. She takes after both her parents. She loves animals, is very caring, and likes to understand how things around her work. She has already become a world traveler, visiting Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas all before 3 years old. Since then, she has extended her travels to Hungary, Germany, and Canada. She has been on more than 100 airplanes and been to more than 12 states! She has already become a seasoned traveler.

How did it all start?

It all started in 2004. This was the year we (James and Kati) kicked off traveling full speed ahead. There was no looking back. It was also James’ first international trip. We went to Hungary for Thanksgiving visiting the country Kati’s family came from and still live. That was all it took. In that same year we also went on our first Disney World trip followed by a Disney Cruise, where we got engaged. This trip sparked our passion for Disney.

In 2005, we traveled to Tanzania, Africa for our honeymoon. It was a life-changing experience to camp out in the Serengeti and see how animals live in the wild.

We have traveled to Disney World and Disneyland more times than we can remember, been on Disney Cruises, and many different places around the world. We have traveled to some of the coldest places in the world such as the Arctic circle and some of the hottest places like the land down under, Australia and many places in between.

The Disney Passion

The first Disney World trip we took together was in 2004. We were impressed by Disney and how they always go above and beyond with their customer service and experiences. It has kept us coming back year after year. We have invested in Disney Vacation Club and often get annual passes to the parks in Disney World and Disneyland. We also love cruising on Disney Cruise Line and have been on all 5 ships and 12 cruises (James) and 14 cruises (Kati), and 6 cruises (Mia) as of January 2023.

We always stay current on everything Disney, from up to date information, to what resorts are being built. We went to Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii 2 months after it was opened and have been back multiple times. Disney’s Aulani and Castaway Cay have two of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches we have ever been to, they are both a true paradise.

We consider our passion for Disney a blessing. Even more so now that we can see the smile it brings Mia, when we visit a Disney parks or destinations.
