Bimini, Bahamas: Part 2 - Our First Day in Bimini

Our Bimini adventure’s begun! A quick flight from Fort Lauderdale landed us on this sunny island. Despite a golf cart mix-up, we’re settled in our condo, loving the beach, and ready for fun with Mia, Kathy, and the grandparents. Day one’s a win—more to come!

Our Bimini adventure began with an easy and scenic flight from Fort Lauderdale to the island, courtesy of Silver Airways. The 25-minute flight was quick and painless, and before we knew it, we were stepping off the plane and onto the warm, welcoming shores of Bimini. Kathy, Mia, Nagymama, and Nagypapa were all excited to get started on what promised to be an unforgettable week.

From the airport, we hopped on a shuttle that took us to a boat, which then ferried us across to Resort World. Once we arrived, we made our way down the street to check in and pick up our golf cart for the week. Unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly as planned. Our prearranged golf cart wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we had to wait for a little while. But it wasn’t long before someone came to get it for us—only to discover she forgot the keys! After another person arrived with they key we were finally on our way. Then we noticed that the gas tank wasn’t full so we called the owner who kindly came to fill it up.

Despite the rocky start, we soon found our beautiful two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo. It was spacious, clean, and perfect for our group. After settling in, we decided to explore. A short walk down the street took us to a small rocky beach, where we had a great view of the Virgin cruise ship just off the shore. The beach was dotted with conch shells, and Mia was thrilled to collect them in a neat row as we explored the shore.

Hoping to find some dinner, we set out to find a restaurant, but unfortunately, it seemed that most of the local spots were closed for the evening. We weren’t about to let that stop us, though, so we popped into a couple of small markets to pick up a few essentials—just enough to tide us over until tomorrow.

But the real highlight of Mia’s day came next: a trip to the Daraban family’s rental home. Mia was over the moon to reunite with her two besties, Bennett and Tavasz. The three of them spent hours playing together, and we didn’t realize how much time had passed until the sun had set. With the evening winding down and everyone getting a bit drowsy, we said our goodbyes and headed back to the condo to rest up for another day of adventure.

Overall, it was a wonderful first day in Bimini, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring. We’re excited for more memories, laughter, and sunshine in this beautiful corner of the world. Stay tuned for more updates!
