Bimini, Bahamas: Part 5 - Stingrays, Sharks, and Sunsets
Day 4 in Bimini was wild! We snorkeled with stingrays and sharks at Honeymoon Harbor, explored the SS Sapona wreck, and spotted more reef sharks. A tasty Hilton lunch and island drive capped an epic day of sea and sun!
Our fourth day in Bimini kicked off with an exciting adventure at Neal Watson’s Scuba Center for a private snorkel and stingray tour. We boarded the boat and made our way to Honeymoon Harbor, an absolutely stunning spot where the water is crystal clear and inviting. It didn’t take long for us to meet the local wildlife—friendly wild stingrays! We got to feed them, and some even let us pet them. It was like having an intimate encounter with these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Things got even more thrilling when a few reef and nurse sharks started to circle around us, apparently hungry and hoping to join the feeding frenzy. We tossed them some food too, which made the experience even more surreal. Having both rays and sharks swimming around us, all while we were in the water, was a moment we’ll never forget.

After our underwater adventures, we took a stroll around the island. We stumbled upon an old abandoned boat, which had seen better days but still stood as a reminder of Bimini’s rich history and connection to the sea.
Next up was one of the highlights of the day—snorkeling at the SS Sapona shipwreck. The wreck, a large concrete structure, sits just off the coast and is now home to vibrant reefs and colorful fish. The underwater ecosystem surrounding the wreck was incredible, and it felt like we were diving into a real-life aquarium. Every turn revealed new creatures, from curious fish to stunning coral formations.

The adventure didn’t stop there. We cruised to another spot where we got a rare sighting of larger reef sharks. We observed them from the safety of the boat, watching as they gracefully moved through the water, their sleek bodies cutting through the waves.
By the time the tour wrapped up, we made our way back to the harbor, where we were treated to yet another surprise—more large sharks were hanging around, adding a bit of drama to the end of our underwater exploration.

We were ready to refuel after such an action-packed morning, so we headed to the Hilton hotel for a delicious lunch. The food was just what we needed, and the views were even better. Afterward, we hopped on our golf carts and drove around the island, exploring its quiet streets and hidden gems. Along the way, we found a graveyard of Conch shells, scattered along the shore, creating a unique, natural display.
As the day wound down, we couldn’t help but reflect on all the incredible things we’d seen. The sun began to set, and we ended the day by sipping drinks and chatting about our favorite moments. Bimini is certainly one of those places that leaves you with unforgettable memories, and day 4 was no exception.
