Why we love a sea day
Port days get all the attention, but sea days are when a ship really gets to show off. There's nowhere to rush off to, so the whole day is about what's onboard.
On the Disney Destiny, we built ours around four things: Palo brunch, the Rainforest Room, formal night and Worlds of Marvel. That turned out to be a very full, very good day.
Starting with Palo brunch
Palo brunch is one of those things we look forward to before we even board, and a slow sea day morning is the perfect time for it.
One correction from the video worth repeating here: the Palo fee is $55. That fee is waived as a courtesy for Disney Castaway Club members at Platinum status and above, so check your status before you book.
A stop at the Rainforest Room
After brunch we made our way to the Rainforest Room. On a day with no port to explore, having a calm spot like this to reset made a real difference.
Formal night and Worlds of Marvel
Sea days on a Disney cruise often mean formal night, and this one did. Getting dressed up together is part of the fun, and it gave the evening a sense of occasion.
We ended the day at Worlds of Marvel, which felt like the right way to close out a day that never left the ship.
Is a sea day worth planning around?
We think so. If you map out a few anchors, like a brunch reservation and your dinner rotation, the rest of the day falls into place and you still have room to wander.
If you're sailing the Disney Destiny, this is roughly what a sea day can look like when you lean into it.
